One Missed Call And That's It

Cinemas have seized or should I say shortened the showtimes for one missed call in Singapore because it isn't doing well and that we all know that it is the remake of the Japanese one missed call.

Surprisingly, it's doing rather well in the states with it being in the top 3 for the first two weeks but it began to slip from the top 10 whereas in Singapore, it did not even make it to the top 10.

The producer did some tweaking and twisted the plot at the very end. I understand this movie better since its in English and it has much more meaning than the japanese version.

All the actors are unknowns therefore there is the lack of omph to even watch the show. If, lets say, there was sarah michelle gellar or jennifer love hewitt, then maybe that adds to a whole new meaning to the movie.

From the start till the end, if you have noticed, the main actress, worn the same outfit again and again and again.

If they want to emphasize oon the 3 Rs - reducing, reusing, recycling, then they did a pretty good job or reusing and recycling and reducing. Reducing; budget of the movie. Reusing; the same clothes over and over again. Recycling; the same story plot.

The actors were not credible. Their actings were stiff.

Notice the second and third photos, the actress wore the same outfit. Anyway, that's not the point.

This show wasn't all that bad.

Phone rings. *Ring* *Ring*

Ah lian reached out for her phone but it stopped ringing already. It was a missed call. She called her voicemail and listened.

She could hear nothing at first, then all was distorted. Seconds later, she heard a voice.

"Ah lian... ah lian... ah ma coming for you..."

Ah lian screamed to the top of her voice.

I give this movie 2.5 / 5.

Bad Day Is Not Every Day

“Dude, just believe that everything will turn out in our favor. Just believe. Because, when you believe, it will happen. Yay!”

Sure, being optimistic about stuff rocks; but when you’re confronted with situations that you can’t control, you need another defensive mechanism.

It’s the whole “Good news or bad news?” dilemma.
Some examples:

“Will I get this sale?” , “Will I get a lower price?” , “Will the local newspaper write about my business?”

Most of us think we need to be optimistic. That’s only partially true. Sure, you can — and should; but you also need to brace yourself for the bad news.

Could we live with it? How will we deal with it? What will we do next?

Always, we’ll have those questions answered — and always, we’re okay with whatever happens because we know we’ll move on regardless of the outcome.

A bad outcome can actually feel good if you expected something worse, and a good outcome can feel bad if you expected something better.

Bracing for the worst maintains your confidence levels to kick ass whenever something bad actually happens.

It’s cliche, but it’s so ridiculously true:

“Hope for the best, but brace for the worst.”

Today was a bad day for me, it was really a bad day for me. I had to go to this certain place twice and the end product, I didn't get a single thing out from the trip. Damnit! I apologized to my honey if I threw tantrum.

I wasted my lunch break and I didn't get to eat.

But I told myself, "Not everyday is a bad day" and I don't really find today really a bad day. Must think positive!

Of Good Things To Share

My honey knows that I like cookies alot especially cookies from famous amos and surprising enough, my honey bought them for me when we were at Tiong Bahru Plaza. We went there to catch another movie.

But I was rather choosy even though they were alot of movies to choose from. I think the movies nowadays lack good scriptings and plots.

Just yesterday, during my lunch break, I went over to City Link to get my honey the 3rd month present. My honey needs a planner. I have one and thus my honey needs one too.

Very nice right? I'm not that cheapo to buy any tom, dick or harry planner. I wanted to buy the Gucci planner Alvin is using but he said it was bought from London.

The Wacky, Cool Boss

I have been working for 2 weeks already. It's amazing how time flies. I am super happy that I have a very understanding, cool boss. By far, he's the best superior.

The item below is selling like hotcakes. They are the 3 sets of cubes which cost $280. Of course, if you want to purchase them, e-mail me with your contact number so that I can contact you lar at issacritz@gmail.com .

I just love the cubes, I may be getting one for myself. Or hint hint, baby get for me leh, can? Haha!

Yesterday, I secretly took a photo of my boss.

He looks ridiculously young. I thought he was like 23 or something. But he's not.

I took another snapshot of him but cannot la. He was talking on the phone with his honey.

I have a very big face compared to my boss, Darryl.

After he left, I started my cam-whoring again.

Foresight Of Love

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.

Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.

Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.

I've fallen in love and I will never let go. Nowadays, the rates of people breaking up or on the verge of breaking up is getting higher. And most of them are my friends or friends of my significant other.

And a few thought I have casted them away since I am already attached. No! Really, no, I haven't. I will promise you if you need someone to be there, I will be. Even though I am attached now, I won't shun away my friends. I will be there to listen.

The most wonderful of all things in life is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a growing depth, beauty and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life.

You cannot love someone who is abusive as later part in the relationship, you will suffer. Love isn't about beating up and it isn't about always giving in.

If you love him, work things out first, but if he still is who he is, then I suggest to let go of that love of yours.

It's still your decision.

You know I will be there for you my dear friends! Don't be silly to think that I have neglected you all. I will be there for you guys.

Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is also of little love.

There is no remedy for love but to love more.

P/S: Nothing's happen between my baby and I. I wrote this entry because I am concerned for my friends and I will be their listening ears if needed.

Like Any Other Normal Days

Nowadays, my life revolve around work, family and my baby. I have no time for even to sidetrack more than half a minute. I'm leading the right path and I want it to be that way. I don't want to sway.

If you once forfeit the confidence of your fellow citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem. You may fool all of the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all the time; but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Today I went to the studio since I have nothing to do at home and my baby will be busy for the whole day. I was happy to know that my baby dedicated one hour for me so I rushed down to my baby's place.

Along the way, I bought hamper for my baby's family. There's alot of abalones in there! Haha! It's for my baby's family and baby so I don't mind buying such an expensive hamper.

Tadah! I had a hard time choosing the hamper. If I buy the big one, then I have problem carrying it to my baby's house. If I buy the small one, I feel like a cheapo. This is my second time buying hampers.

I know, people will always say, 'its the thoughts that counts'.

I don't really believe that.

One example; My friend bought a beautiful scarf which costs around 20 dollars for her best friend's birthday. She gave it to her best friend and her best friend said, 'wow! its really really very nice. Where you buy it?'

And she said, "I bought it at Hong Kong. It's a normal brand but its really nice, hope you like it!"

Her best friend, "Yes I like it very much, its the thoughts that count."

5 minutes later, her best friend who was also my friend told me, "Aiyah, she bought me this cheap scarf leh!"

You guys have to be thankful I am not like that, hahahaha!

If you buy me maybe that scarf, I will say the same thing, "its the thoughts that counts' but the difference between me and her; I will sincerely appreciate it.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

Dorris gave me two pens today when I went over to her shop. How nice of her! Thanks Dorris! I gave one to my baby.

Shopping And Dining At Hanz

After work, I met up with Eric, Joanne and Aileen for dinner at Orchard. As usual, it was busy at Orchard. There were alot of people and it was for us to walk. We wanted ti go Far East Plaza Puncak but it was very crowded.

We ended up eating at Hanz and I think it's my second time there. The first time was like 5 years ago.

We ordered quite alot of food. Correction, I ordered alot.

Joanne ordered chicken chop. Looks appetizing!

Aileen with her I-am-going-to-gobble-up-all-the-food-expression on her face was interferred by me because I wanted to take photos. "What lah!" she shouted.

Aileen, "Aiyah, can don't take photos or not?! I very hungry already leh!"

Joanne and Eric couldn't care anymore; they tugged in.

Baby's fish and chip!

My egg tuna with mayo!

Aileen's spaghetti! Yummy!

And my second set came minutes later.

Joanne, "So just now was your appetizer ah?"

I laughed.

Afterwards, we went to Tangs to shop. Joanne was looking for presents for her mum's birthday which was yesterday and I was looking for a planner.

We thought that yesterday that shopping centers would be open till the wee hours because its the last weekend of the month.

We were wrong.

Dining at Hanz was okay. Atmosphere was bland. Food were average. I give 2.5 / 5.

Dining At Country Spoon

Eric met up with me for lunch. Eric wanted to eat at the foodcourt but I decided to have something more than just have food at foodcourt. I decided to treat him to a restaurant at Great World City.

When we got there, we were deciding on which restaurant to eat. Then we came across Kenny Rogers. We wanted to settle for that but then we saw another restaurant, named Country Spoon which was located directly opposite of Kenny Rogers.

So we decided to have that.

Both of us ordered two set lunch, and two ice lemon tea.

We are cam-whoring again. Usual us.

The chicken soup. I must say it's really delicious.

Eric ordered the fish set while I ordered the 1/2 spring chicken set.

I didn't really want to order the 1/2 spring chicken set because it's troublesome to use the fork and knife to slice the chicken into smaller pieces and eat them.

I prefer using hands. But oh well...

We ordered brownies with ice-cream.

I must say I am extremely pleased with the service and the promptness. And the food are delicious. I will give 3.5 /5.

The Country Spoon restaurant is located at Great World City, basement floor, directly opposite Kenny Rogers.
