Music - Seduction, Love, Melancholy and what else?

Right, I'm deciding to be an Aphrodite now, introducing the concept of seduction by music rather than by touch. Ever had that thought? That those mere melodies, with lyrics uttered by the sexy voices of Jennifer, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Christina, Britney, Whitney, Kylie (and the list goes on) could actually turn you on? Personally I'm (un)lucky enough to experience it for myself - 'Dirty Nasty Boy' by Christina Aguilera in her Back to Basics album and 'Love to Love You Baby' by the late Donna Summer. They both had arousing, well, moans by the ladies, depicting a virtual scene of a culminating orgasm. Why don't you go hear them for yourself and get a free AHEM touch? ;)

Summer's first single - Love to Love You Baby

So apparently some survey conducted in the UK showed that more than 2,000 Brits are more aroused by music than by touch. But that doesn’t mean aspiring lovers should just make due with whatever’s on the radio. Different songs serve different purposes. Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” is best for a romantic dinner. Abba’s “Dancing Queen” came in first for dance-club flirtation. Another Gaye track, “Sexual Healing,” was found to set the mood best. None of those choices seem particularly surprising, but what about during the act itself?

There's no contention, at least objectively, that there's something music can do to people that nothing else can do. Aside from food, it is the only optimistic thing that brings people together to celebrate life and be merry. It's visceral and ethereal, some hits make you wanna DANCE,
some make you wanna cry/reflect/reminisce/be an emo kid whatsoever and of course, some just make you wanna get it on.

We grew up with the sounds of ABBA's 'Dancing Queen', 'The Sound of Music's 'Favourite Things' and the blessed voices of Mariah, Celine and Whitney, and despite the fact that they're all of different genres, they have something in common. They invoke varied emotions, thoughts and feelings when we hear them. The argument that only certain forms of music should be considered 'music' like Indie, Classical, Jazz etc is clearly flawed in that it blatantly disregards the immense creativity involved in the clever amalgamation of lyrics, sound tones and beats and tunes in Pop, Rock, R&B and Metal. Such dogmatic assertions about this intangible gift from the heavens are tenuous at best and should NEVER be accepted by the general public - should a situation in 'Footloose' ever occur, where dance music was actually banned simply because someone died in a car crash after partying too hard.

Aphrodite and Apollo probably worked together in some ways to create today's Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Jessie J, Cheryl Cole and perhaps Rihanna. Musically seductive, our entertainers have bent the rules of compositional styles to their advantage, forming yet another era of music making, post-contemporary perhaps? Credits to the Bachs of the Baroque, Mozarts and Beethovens of the Classical and Chopins and Liszts of the Romantic. They all had a part to play in the musical influences that pervaded across the centuries. It is my hope, then, that this culture of heightened creativity, art and variation continue to emplace its reign in the coming years of fabulous living in our humble abode we so call Earth.

Halloween

As self-explanatory as it can be, HOW WAS YOUR HALLOWEEN GUYS?! It was certainly quite a 'happening' weekend for most of us dressing up in varied costumes posing as our favourite characters in movies, sci-fi, some other celebs or just plainly anything that screams Lady Gaga.

So while dancing the night away - probably with a load of alcohol literally streaming and coursing through your bloody veins - did you notice what your neighbour wore? Honestly I'd dare say Singaporeans (or our lovely foreign talents) are getting increasingly creative. I mean, how on earth are you supposed to even see with a black mask covering your entire face?! There was a sea of nuns, the typical vamps, some cleopatra wannabes that totally failed like big time in carrying the outfits off, and not forgetting some hell/devil costumes that are, to me, quite unsightly, considering the amount of paint that goes onto your skin. Sadly for me, I didn't get to don my dream outfit as Van Helsing (with a twist of modern class) this year, but hey, ceteris paribus, won't there always be a next year to drag?

What then, you might ask, have our celebrities, the people who are the so-called leading examples in fashion and entertainment, been wearing all this time? Let's take a good look at them for some devouring inspiration.

Heidi Klum - okay this totally changes my perception of the Victoria Secret model,  but hey, look she's wearing heels! Nice job keeping your hair down girl!

Kim Kardashian - Now this, is absolutely fabulous. She might just actually beat Uma Thurman if she were to star in some remake of the Batman movie back in the 90s as Le Poison Ivy.

Beyonce - as bumblebee? Come on woman...For someone who advocates your 'girl power' and all that crap, don't you think this is a little old school and more importantly, SAFE? Who you trying to please now?!

Fergie - Credits to your ginormous pink bear. Dainty and slutty, just the way Will.I.Am likes it ;)

Gwen Stefani - Cinderalla, oh Cinderella, what the fuck are you carrying?! Some rotten bag you got from the cottage? Your fairy godmother should be sacked from fairy tales itself. Nice dress though.

Liv Tyler & Martha Stewart - I wonder who turned who into stone.

Kate Beckinsale - I think you're better of as the vampire slayer in Van Helsing. Seriously sister, little red riding hood is just not you.

Roberto Cavalli - As your competitor Karl Lagerfeld? Is this some marketing strategy or something?

Christina Aguilera with her then husband - Now I think I understand the divorce.

Now how's that for some fabulousity during Halloween? I think Halloween should be held in conjunction with events like Milan Fashion Week. I mean, don't you think it's an occasion where you can really wear whatever you want without being afraid of being judged - although I just did some people - and be who you always wanted to be for like I don't know, your entire pathetic childhood?

Stay fabulous people, stay young, stay fresh and of course, stay amortal.

Demi Lovato Did Not Impress Her FANS

Before Demi took to the stage, the singer and actress was in good spirits, tweeting to her fans: 'So excited to sing the National Anthem at game 4 of the World Series tonight!!.'

Belting out the notes, Demi seemingly put her whole heart into it, but was still met with criticism.

Make-up free, the young star appeared down in the dumps, keeping her head down as she made her way through the terminal at LAX airport.

The blonde had changed for her flight home, wearing a black lace dress underneath a flannel shirt and leather jacket.

Mixed Review on Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato sang the Star Spangled Banner to open game 4 of the World Series where the Tigers took on the San Francisco Giants at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan.

Her rendition, which showcased her vocal range of low and high notes, was met with mixed reviews, especially on the internet.

One YouTube commenter was so offended by the performance: they wrote in relation to a video of the song: 'the worst Anthem rendition i have ever heard'.

Morgan Freeman IS DEAD, NOT!

Morgan Freeman gets a good laugh out of rumors of his own demise.
The Oscar winner took to his Facebook page on Tuesday to make light of those pretty disgusting death hoaxes that have popped up with increasing frequency on social media and targeted him over the years, noting that if he is standing in front of the Pearly Gates, it looks an awful lot like present-day Earth.
"Like Mark Twain, I keep reading that I have died," wrote the 75-year-old Freeman. "I hope those stories are not true…but if they are, I'm happy to report that my afterlife seems identical to my life when I was alive."

Britney Spears Banned From Internet!

Britney Spears has reportedly been banned from the internet as her darkest days are played out in court.

The 30-year-old singer's father Jamie and fiance Jason Trawick took the decision amid fears she could suffer another breakdown, reported Sun online. "Britney has been banned from reading about the trial for her own good.

They are trying to protect her from all this. It will be terrible for her recovery if she reads about her worst days all over again," a source said.
