Recently I started taking turmeric with warm milk (and sometimes with some raw honey added) on a nightly basis and Gawd! The amazing equanimity it engenders...The taste of a cinnamon-ish milk infusion uplifts your mood, calms you down and just makes you wanna have a gastronomical orgasm.
Turmeric not only tastes great this way - it has a myriad of health benefits as well. Being a 'blood cleaner', it has been reputed for being one of the herbs that help remove 'bad' cholesterol', LDL, which is the equivalent of burning fat, if you like. It is also a great source of antioxidants, that help in the anti-aging process of your entire body. Turmeric supplements are sold at your regular health food stores (GNC has them). Try grabbing some for some health boosting, anti-cancer benefits!
But hey, that's so not the point. Did you know that turmeric body/face masks are used on Indian brides who are about to get married, to soften, lighten, improve the tone of and lift their skin texture and complexion? Turmeric, as aforementioned, has a plethora of anti-aging properties, and what better way to utilise that benefit for what we care for the most - Beauty. Used on a regular basis, this mask helps prevent breakouts and acne, wrinkles and lightens and boosts your skin tone.
So I was bothered enough to give it a shot and let's just say that it does in fact do wonders for your skin. You basically need a tablespoon of turmeric powder, a teaspoon of honey, about 2 - 3 tablespoons of milk and some drops lemon juice (optional). Mix all of that into a yellow paste consistency and apply it to clean skin. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and wash it off with warm water. CAUTION: this mask stains so be careful not to wear anything white (Oh what the hell just go buff while doing it), and you might want to use a light cleanser to wash off any yellow stains that might stick onto your face as well. Do a minor exfoliation if required.
And enjoy your renewed soft skin my fellow darlings and pursuers of perfect skin ~
