The director is trying too hard to be Wong Kar Wai or Cai Ming Liang but sad to say, he is no comparison. Too ambitious with too many stories squeezed into a 90 minute show and in the end, it is shallow. In fact some of the stories are good and can be further developed in the hands of a good and competent director.
I don't really feel the local flavour. I particularly like Yang Gui Mei's acting as she successfully portrayed her role with minimal dialogue. It is a waste and sad to see her talent not "exploited" further. I find ind the sexual act between the fat businessman and the young pros disgusting and can be done without.
My advice to Ekachai, stick to your stage plays and leave movies to Royston Tan and Eric Khoo. As for Jack Neo - if and only if your movie can be more funny and less silly and stupid, we can consider letting you join Royston and Eric but no promise because there is still a lot of catching up to do.
