After the influx of the hip-pop influence, hip hop fashion became less based in actual street wear and more in an idealization of such. Hip hop clothing is often produced by popular and successful designers, who charge significant amounts for their products.
The main elements of modern male hip hop fashion are baggy jeans slung low around the waist, gold or platinum chains, boots or a fresh pair of kicks (sneakers), and a bandana or durag tied around the head (often with a fitted cap on top). Large T-Shirts are also standard street wear
Her hair was styled by the saloon near her place. And the clothings were picked from the best. I was mesmerized by her.
What do you think about the current state of Hip-Hop Music? While it is a little bit cliche to repeat how most hip-hop music is overrun with references to flashy cars, women and material items there still seems to be a void in the alternative artists who once provided a break from this "bling bling".
Where is Hip-Hop going?
My point with this rant is that a lot of the artists who offer a counter image to the materialistic message found in most Hip-Hop these days seem to be on hiatus. When are they coming back with new stuff?
Hip-hop tells the stories of the multiethnic urban youth and the communities they live in, though the lives of inner-city African- Americans take center stage.
Hip-hop is about inner-city and lower-class life. It's about trying to live out the American dream from the bottom up. It's about trying to make something out of nothing. Hip-hop is about dance, art, expression, pain, love, racism, sexism, broken families, hard times, overcoming adversity, and the search for God.
Anyone who looks at hip-hop and just sees rap music doesn't truly understand the history and the current influence hip-hop has on the whole youth culture.
Hip Hop is our love.
