The Olden Days at Lee Tai Fu

Lee Tai Fu is just minutes away from Tiong Bahru MRT Station. Easy to locate.

It's a great place to hang out for a meal with friends, and enjoy being spoiled by their wide selection of craft beers and ciders.

The owner, Derek, always gives best recommendations, so be sure to approach him! It's a place that would bring back those old nostalgia with its old school decor where you try using their telephone!

They are currently having 2 promotions ongoing! If your birthday falls on that day, you will be given discounts according to your age. So if you are 25 years old, you will receive a 25% off on your meal. And if you are 78 years old, you will receive a 78% off on your meal.

Definitely not like any other restaurants!

The other promo is for kids who excel in their studies. If your kid gets a F to a D or a D to a C grade, just bring your exam papers with the excelled grades and you get to get discounts on your kid's meal!

Don't Miss Out on Toby's The Dessert Asylum

The last time I visited Toby's was when it was located at Parkway Parade. And now I am here again. It has relocated at Tradehub 21 Boon Lay instead which was of course nearer to my house!

This American-style café has an innumerable items on its menu. Turn that menu around and you will be facing with an equally packed menu for its desserts and drinks. So yes, it may be an asylum (for its sheer huge menu), but no, it’s surely not just about desserts here.

The number of items on the menu has also increased.

The Hulk-a-Mania was definitely refreshing especially during hot and humid weathers in Singapore!

But the one drink that kicked ass was the Lychee Lust. Sweet, tasty and heavenly. I was so lusting over it!

The Best of the Best: Toby's The Dessert Asylum

Sam and I enjoying the food at Toby's.

The Stewed Pork Pizza has very thin crust which I absolutely love. Pizzas, I believe, shouldn't have thick crust, because once you take the 3rd slice, you'll feel full.

Comes in 8 pieces, thin-crusted but not to the extent of biscuit-like, and generously topped with stewed pork.

Each and every single piece of the pizza was smacked with a full-sized slab of meat and topped with onions and garlic sauce. The most memorable and my favorite dish here. Plausible for sharing between two; surprisingly remarkable and surely worthy.

And the baked chicken & mushroom, cheese + garlic sauce was sinfully delicious.

Spicy Chicken Pizza; capsicum, pineapple and tomato sauce. I love CAPSICUM so it was definitely a plus plus plus when the spicy chicken pizza has them.

Wacky Waffles with a choice of ice cream + a choice of fresh strawberries, banana or apple. And on the right is D LOVER (Durian). If you're a durian lover, then you should order the D LOVER. You won't regret it!

As a Geminian, I do have split personality and this dessert called ' Split Personality' fits me right to the bones! Vanilla Ice-Cream, Chendol, Red Bean, Coconut Cream and Gula Melaka! Oh my god! It's like having all the flavour bursting candies at ONE GO.

The rainbow cake was nothing like the others I've tasted. Presentation wise; it already scored a full marks. And when I ate the first bite, I fell in love with it.

The Delicious Sushi Burritos

“The burritos are so huge, it’s possible for it to be a meal on its own,” and true enough, the sushi burritos are packed with so many ingredients!

On the whole, I think that the concept of a sushi burrito is very creative and practical idea, as its packaging means that it can be eaten anywhere at anytime. The packaging makes it suitable for busy people on the go which is probably why Sushi Burrito also provides delivery services to offices making it perfect for the clientele in the Tanjong Pagar area.

They do taste similar to the Japanese sushi we are more familiar with.

Sam and I thouroughly enjoyed the burritos.

Chilis will keep you wanting for MORE

For 40 years, Chili’s has been welcoming guests with their sizzling personality and serving up a good time, every time. Their fun and energetic atmosphere is the perfect place for family and friends to gather together and enjoy a delicious meal. Their menu has grown over the years to include a distinct mix of Southwestern-inspired, classic American and international flavours.

You can still enjoy their mouthwatering burgers, ice-cold beers and margaritas that made us famous, or you can choose to sink your teeth into even more great, bold American favourites like their legendary Baby Back Ribs, Sizzling Fajitas and Boneless Buffalo Wings.

When I first entered the restaurant, it was low lit and decorated exactly like a typical American diner. There were booth seats, big pictures hung on the walls, a bar at the back of the restaurant with drink specials and records playing in the background. The atmosphere was boisterous and friendly- the sort of place you would want to come to for a football game.

The margaritas were strong. Too strong for me. But the taste was still fine.

The flatbread was actually my favorite for the day.

The menus were colourful and full of eye catching photographs of the food, it was so tempting to want to order everything that was available! It did not help that the booths around us were all being served with large platters of sizzling and bbq-ed items that smelled so good.

The Grilled Baby Back Ribs at $29 for half rack was literally 'fall-off-the-bone-tender' as the menu claimed. The meat was juicy, succulent and tasty with a hint of spiciness as we picked the Honey Chipotle as sauce of choice. The ribs came with 2 sides and we chose Loaded Mash- mashed potatoes with bacon bits and cheese and Seasoned Veggies  which were basically buttered steamed broccoli! Though personally I thought the half rack was a tad small, the flavour was definitely larger than life.

So Im thinking that Chilli's deserves a definite second visit especially since we are getting a 10% discount off our next visit with some promotion/offer they were having. Service wise, it was excellent. The waitress serving our table was always cheerful and efficient, even came to our table while we were eating to check if everything was alright and if the food was okay.

Roboyes Cafe is Dog-Friendly.

When you enter, the first thing that strikes you is the baby blue colour scheme, reminiscent of an American country house. The wooden lawn fence that partitions the space adds to the countryside atmosphere. The floorspace is divided into 2: one area for dogs and their owners, and a separate area that for patrons without pets.

There were plenty of regular customers who brought their dogs to Roboyes Cafe. Big ones, small ones, the quiet ones, and unfortunately on that day, there was a very noisy dog who kept on barking.

We ordered Yuzu and Ribena Ice. Not too sweet, not too bitter. they were the perfect drinks for a hot and humid evening.

We had the delicious pork and bacon pasta and the pork burger with french fries.

The pork and bacon pasta was sublime. It was not too dry and the taste was spot on. Maybe they can do a little lesser on the pepper. Else everything will be a full mark.

The pork burger - the patty is made from scratch and its definitely not bought from the supermarket. The patty was thick, and mouth-watering.

Warning: If you do not like dogs, then this isn't a cafe for you to visit. But then again, you don't have to worry, the dogs won't bite! And like what most people say, guys and ladies who has dogs as their pets make a great wife and husband. You decide.

Greyhound Cafe at Bukit Bintang

Malaysia's first offshoot of Thailand's Greyhound Cafe is open, bringing one of Bangkok's best-known F&B brands to Kuala Lumpur. If you've enjoyed your experiences at Greyhound in Siam Center, Emporium & elsewhere, it may be worth visiting Greyhound KL to see if the spirit of exuberant, trend-setting gastronomy can be captured in shopping-consumed Bukit Bintang.

Some signature starters have been successfully transplanted here; the fried mini chicken wings (RM18++) remain as devilishly moreish as ever, while the salmon sashimi (RM22++) will be wiped clean in no time - the secret for both rests in the sauce: an umami-rich fish sauce marinade for the former, a spicy-savoury, textured dressing for the latter, each infused with Indochinese flavours. But a crucial concession has been made: Greyhound KL's a no-pork restaurant, so a piece of the renowned Complicated Noodles (RM18++) is lost in translation - customers still assemble this recipe themselves, topping lettuce leaves with soft noodle sheets, chilli sauce & coriander leaves, but the meatiest component of minced pork is substituted with chicken.

Going bonkers at Banana Tree

Originating from Seoul, Korea, Banana Tree has finally set its roots here on Keong Saik Road, riding along with the rise of Korean desserts on sunny Singapore. Being an avid banana fan, I was of course, really excited for its opening. However, much to my dismay, NO, I’m too superficial for my own good. They don’t serve everything banana, even though they do have some banana-based desserts on their menu.

I thought Banana Tree had its strengths in its signature presentation in its dishes. The cute pots and spades for its bingsu and Flower Paap really captured my heart, and got me squealing in excitement. Despite the rather average fare, I think I would make a return visit to Banana Tree for their desserts if I’m in the area, since the weather is crazy hot all year round. Moreover, I really liked how the cafe feels so clean and serene with the glass ceiling.
Banana Tree deserves at least one visit from all you cafe hoppers out there for their cute concept and decent desserts, without exorbitant prices!

Jamie's Restaurant. One Word; Overrated

Overrated, overrated, overrated. Gordon Ramsay, please take over Jamie's restaurant!

The only saving grace was the, erm, roast potatoes with toasted fennel, garlic and chilli.

The tenderstem brocolli with olives, garlic, chili and lemon butter was hard like hell and the Spring Salmon was below par. Not fresh at all.
