'The Avengers': Scarlett Johansson

Without the benefit of cushy computer-generated super powers, “The Avengers” gorgeous female contingent, Scarlett Johansson had to work twice as hard as the men.
Johansson, 28, plays the super hero team’s resident master spy, the Black Widow, in the film, which opens May 4, reprising her butt-kicking role from 2010’s “Iron Man 2.”

Saluting Joss Whedon

Do you know how much I love Joss Whedon? HE WAS THE CREATOR for Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and I LOVE BUFFY to bits! Definitely one of my all-time favorite tv show!

It’s impossible to truly convey how perfect Joss was for this film. It’s not because of the nerd credibility he brings to the project and it’s not the fact that his last film was critically (though not financially) well-received. Joss is perfect because he can take an ensemble and make them totally, completely click, and that’s the greatest strength of “The Avengers”.

Everyone is a three-dimensional character, important to the plot, and every character butts heads as much as they complement one another, and you simply can’t imagine “The Avengers” working any other way or being any more compelling.
