Horror Movies

The Ring:

Before you die, you see The Ring.

As we learn at the beginning of the movie, The Ring is one of a number of intense, shadowy images that people see on a videotape that is somehow circulating. Once an individual sees the tape, they get a phone call informing them that they have seven days until they die.

Reporter Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) gets wrapped up in the intrigue after learning her niece died under just such circumstances. She gets a hold of the supposedly lethal tape and begins her investigation into her niece's death, putting both herself and her loved ones in jeopardy.

The ghost; a female ghost with long hair down to her waist , covering her face. Whenever she wants to kill the victims, she will slowly crawl to the victim and torture him/her to death.

Ju-On:

A curse born of a grudge held by someone who dies in the grip of powerful angers. It gathers in the places frequented by that person in life, working its spell on those who come into contact with it and thus creating itself anew.

In this case, the place "frequented by the person in life" was a house. A regular looking, fairly modern-day abode. In fact, I've seen houses that look just like it in many Japanese movies and anime. However, a horrible tragedy occurred in the house and now it is a receptacle of evil.

The ghost: a female ghost with long hair down to her waist , covering her face. Whenever she wants to kill the victims, she will slowly crawl to the victim and torture him/her to death and a creepy little boy.

Dark Water:

A wife is involved in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband over their six year-old daughter. While a decision is being made on the matter, the mother and daughter moved into a run-down apartment building and attempt to build a new life.

At first, things seem fine save for the annoying leaky ceiling in the bedroom, but as time passes, the leak gets worse and her daughter starts talking to an imaginary friend.

It is soon revealed that her imaginary friend is a missing child who used to live in the apartment upstairs, and she has apparently returned to take her away from her mother.

The mother has some childhood abandonment issues of her own stemming from her own parents' split. Consequently, she wants nothing more than to be a good mother to her daughter, and to keep them together.

When the story of her daughter's imaginary friend own maternal abandonment comes to light, she realizes to her horror that it's not her daughter company which the imaginary friend desires but her own. Her daughter is simply in the way. Now she must choose between being mother to either her daughter or her daughter's imaginary friend. Surprisingly, her decision fulfills the needs of both children.

The ghost: a little girl with long hair down to her waist, covering her face.

Conclusions: Nowadays, horror shows' ghosts are similiar including the ones in A Tale Of Two Sisters and Oujia Board.
