"I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore," she wrote on Twitter. "I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year."
According to reports, her 40-year-old father, construction worker Ricky Pempengco, had been at a grocery store in San Pedro township near Manila when he came in contact with a drunk man.
After he brushed up against the man, the man stabbed him with an ice pick in the chest and back. Police in the area report that a manhunt is currently under way and a reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Pempengco doesn't appear to have been targeted, according to authorities.
