Birthday Chalet; The 1st Day (2nd June) Part 1

I was dreaming a beautiful dream, involving both my other half and me. Romance and love was thick in the air as we carelessly abandoned our fears and leapt about on the grassy field, enjoying the warmth of the sun.

A dove flew past and perched itself on an outstretched branch. As it cawed noisily, its screeches soon turned into an alarming alarm that closely resembled my alarm clock's alarm.

With a slam on my alarm clock, the alarm subsided and I relaxed my head on my silky white pillow, sighing happily. Gazing at the curtains fluttering in the morning air, I felt calmness seep into every nerve of my being.

Tomorrow was my birthday, and I was determined not to let anything get in my way. Getting dressed in my usual set of casual shirt and shorts, I made my way out of my room and greeted my mother heartily.

"Don't forget to collect the fried rice and mee hoon from auntie's house ah!" Reminded my thoughtful mother as I went about my daily morning routine of brushing my teeth and having a quick cold shower.

Teasing my dishevelled hair with wax, I exited from my flat and took a bus down to Tanglin, where my aunt resided. As she gingerly led me to the containers containing the aforementioned food, she grimly informed me that they were indeed, very heavy.

As I lugged the contents back to the bus stop, I had to agree with my aunt's wisdom. And as I boarded the bus, I wished I had decided to hail for a cab instead.

Shoving the violent mass back into my home, since my other half and Greg had utterly no idea where to drop from, I once again rushed back down to the bus stop to signal at them to get off.

I kept constant contact with my other half through the use of my mobile. When I saw the bus approaching, I immediately waved both of my arms and screamed at the top of my voice.

Thankfully, my other half noticed me and got off with Greg. I guided the back to my home, whereupon they tested the weight of the 'luggage' before setting out of the door again.

Fortunately enough, I sighted a free taxi loitering in the car park.Staggering towards it, I noticed the taxi had slided towards me with the door automatically opening. "Wow! Automatic doors," thought my pervasive mind with wonder, "I've never seen such things before!"

As I was about to jump aboard, a pair of frail legs dressed in pants suddenly emerged followed by a man aged about fifty. He grinned widely before unveiling a box from behind him.

It was my uncle, and that box withheld my to be birthday cake.

Thanking him profusely, I clasped the box tightly and promised not to shake it crazily about. And then we stuffed everything (except the birthday cake) into the taxi boot before giving the driver our wanted location.

Costa Sands, here we come!
Two days of merry and wholesome fun!
Savour food,
Smell the grill,
Slice the cake,
And overnight stays!
Just a dollar,
And we are through!

Arriving at Costa Sands, we heaved our items (my other half was balancing the birthday cake) towards the gate before giving a dollar to the guards in change for an invisible stamp and gaining entrance to the chalet area.

I was expecting a two storey unit but it turned out to be a single storey unit. Disappointed I was.

We checked into our unit and placed our stuffs and start to survey the bathroom and the condition of the room.

Not bad! It looked like a hotel room.

Without hesitation, I asked my other half to take pictures of me! Yes, vain I was. The disappointment slowly faded away and I was soon engulfed with excitement.

We took out the food and utensils from the plastic bags and placed them on the long table neatly.

I nearly died carrying the two big tubs which contained the fried mee and fried rice. I decided to let my godbrother, Gregory carry them. Not that I do not have the strength to carry them but hey, I was the birthday boy!

While my other half was preparing the food, I penned down a poem.

Another year has pass
The time goes by so fast
But don't let your age
Be an important gauge
Of what you mean to me
There's so much more to see
Your eternal youth of heart
From you will never part
And the approaching times will bring
A joy that will make me sing
So put aside your fear
And together we'll enjoy the coming year!

As I surveyed the room, something caught my eyes.

X-BOX!

Unfortunately, there were no games in sight. Thus, I was forced to refer to the brochure hiding behind the television.

"For X-Box games, please rent them from X-Square."

Knowing that I would absolutely need games to keep my friends company, I dragged my other half over to X-Square and rented a few multiplayer games.

There they are!

We had 'Dead Or Alive 2', 'Magic Battlegrounds' and 'Spikeout' which luckily, were all multiplayer, allowing two players to play simultaneously.

Whilst I was busily fiddling with the games, my handphone rang before the doorbell rang, signalling the entrance of my guests.

I swung open the door and greeted my guests enthusiastically. In return, they said hello and returned a handshake. I welcomed them in.

Immediately, they rushed to the food. (Just kidding)

Rahila and her boyfriend, Fazdzlie (who was enlisted in National Srvice on my birthday), were the earliest guests who'd arrived.

Sob! I missed my classmates but unfortunately many of my male classmates were enlisted a day before or after my birthday. So I was not able to meet and bid them goodbye!

Ah! that's my blog reader, Ashton!

He's happily eating his fried rice while watching t.v.

Soon after, more guests came.

My 5 years IRC pal, Shamsul (the one eating on the mattress) dirtied my bed! How I wish I could slap his face with the frozen sausages I brought for the BBQ. The bedsheet was stained with rice. And that is syaiful eating at the very corner of the room.

And that is Taufik and I. His girlfriend declined to be phtographed.

Time quickly flew, and soon, it was already nine in the evening. Stating that it was late enough, many of the guests proceeded home.

Before leaving, I took several shots with the guests as memoirs of my birthday.

I anticipated for the next day to come.
