What Is Geek Chic?
What is geek chic? Is it a style, a trend, a movement, a cultural shift or just a love affair with all things uncool? First off, what is a geek? If you're getting ready to argue about this definition, you might be one of them.
A geek has obsessive, esoteric knowledge about mass media, pop culture and technology. Geeks are generally smart, they're passionate about things most people don't care about, and most of them tend to be early adopters when it comes to the latest gadgets. Geek message boards talk about the latest casting rumors for "Watchmen," not who's going to win the Super Bowl.
Geeks are one thing. But what does it mean to be geek chic? Think of Alyson Hannigan's character Willow in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." During the first few seasons, she is a geek, and her hair and attire reflect that. After a few seasons, she gets her hair cut and colored to a more vibrant red and adds some flattering clothes to her wardrobe. Voila -- from geek to geek chic. She's still the same old Willow with the same interests, but she's polished.
The look of geek chic is the easy part. You take key pieces of a typically geeky wardrobe and wear them with purpose and aplomb, to make a point. Not because you're clueless and out of the fashion loop, not because you can't afford Ralph Lauren -- because you want to.
Think thick black glasses, pinstriped suits with skinny ties, sweater vests, pocket protectors -- a hipster vibe with a nerdy edge. It's about reclaiming the geek identity as something not only meaningful, but also stylish.
So this week and next week are GEEK CHIC WEEKS.
Dress like one (fashionably but still look like a geek) and send your photos to icyboy85@gmail.com or issacritz@gmail.com . The best dressed geek chic girl or guy will stand a chance to win $200.

Choosing a Gift
When you choose a gift, make sure you know what the person likes.
As for me, I will make sure I know what the person really likes and buy a gift suited to his preference.
Example; if my friend is someone who is bubbly and talkative and loud, I can't possibly get him dull color presents, right?
And if I have another friend who only wears black, I can't possibly buy him colorful tee shirts, right?
If you want to get me gifts, get me tee shirts. I love tee shirts.
But if you decides to get me other things, then get something colorful because I am all into colors.
Or you can get me something romantic, like.. A Lava Lamp!
Its alright if the items you are getting me are not expensive. Its the thoughts that counts.
Remember, when you choose a gift, its not about you. Its about the person receiving the gifts.

Old Me, New Me
I've received two emails today dated 31st December.
Dear Issac,
I love reading your blog. I love seeing you on your blog. However, you've changed. You party and party and party and party. Non-stop.
You have a promising blog.
You used to be really invested in your blog.
What happened?
And another reads like this;
Issac ! Are you going to be the Singapore Lindsay Lohan partying all night long, partying everyday!?!
And then there's a comment written in my guestbook by my best buddy!
Its been a long time since I communicated with her! A really long time.
I guess she's right too. I've changed. Changed drastically. I miss the old me. I really miss the old me.
I just need one person to knock some sense into me.
There you are - my best buddy came.
Good decisions come from disciplined thinking. If you follow the basic laws of decision making, most of your plans will work out. Think haphazardly when you make a decision and little of what you plan will pan out.
They are habit-forming. Each time you make the right decision, you gain the necessary self-confidence to keep making good decisions. That’s why following the laws of decision making is crucial.
Focus on the most important thing. This seems obvious, but it is the decision-making principle that is most often violated. People overload the decision-making process with so many variables that what’s really important gets lost.
Example: Most decisions only require you to answer one yes or no question, such as, Do we launch this product? But then someone says, What about this? and someone else says, What about that?
What should have been a straight-forward decision gets confused by minor considerations. You lose the focus for making the right decision.
In every decision, one factor usually is the most important. Close your eyes, and concentrate on that element, forgetting all other considerations. Once you’re focused only on what’s most important, the odds are you’ll make the right decision. Everything else is a detail.
I guess I have been vaguely making the right decisions and not differentiating what's right and wrong.

Its Been Awhile..
Its been awhile since I wrote long entries on my blog. Its been a long time since I did a proper update.
Last December has really been a busy month. Hardly had my lunch and dinner breaks. I did not even have the time to meet my bff, Kent!

Yesterday, I spent my night with my closest friends. I reached home 8 in the morning and barely had a good rest but its worthwhile.
I get to watch the fireworks.
I get to walk around Marina Bay Sands.
I get to go to the highest floor of MBS.
I get to see the entire view of Clarke Quay and Shenton Way.
I get to watch the sun rise.
Its worthwhile!
