A Game You Should Play: Autumn Dynasty!

It has been a while since any 'real' strategy games have been developed. From the likes of Warcraft and Maplestory, to the times where Tradewinds and Red Alert dominated the computer screens, we haven't indeed seen a good Command & Conquer programme that enables us to go on quests, acquire rare products, lead a team of soldiers and better still, indulge in a little bit of...Magic.

So with the proliferation of the Smartphone these days, you might wonder who still huddles back to their homes on a daily basis just so they can face an old computer screen for entertainment. Well the industry itself is fully aware of this so called 'trend' that everyone has a bit of being on the go, and this leads to the introduction of a fully downloadable (from the App store) game, Autumn Dynasty!

 Being similar to almost any command and conquer programme, the game's central idea is that of war and the requirement of the player to guide a weakening government against a strong opposition. Based on an Ancient Chinese landscape, where stories of Ne Zha, The Monkey King and Journey to the West are prevalent, Autumn Dynasty encompasses an empire in whose government has been weakened and corrupted by various elements. With its defensive barriers down, the empire's long kept secrets and legends are at risk of being stolen, such as that of the firedust and the legend of the Thousand Sun Weapon (sounds too cool already huh!). 

These are the very entities that have kept the Empire safe from its detractors seeking to tear it down. It is then up to you, the player, to take up the sword of command, and guide whatever has been left of the empire to safety and cease all foreign invasions and internal wars (from the traitors to their own cause)...

Using a 'paintbrush' tool, you are able to plan your battles directly on the map and command your armies efficiently. Get ready to once again (as in the days of Warcraft) establish bases, train troops and materials, go on mystical quests and be intrigued by the vivid descriptions of items that the creative team has so painstakingly wrecked their fantastical minds over to construct.

As previously mentioned, the game has been designed to fit your mobile screen at any time of the day, since most of us are always on the go. So you don't have to worry about the inconvenience of having to stay put at only one area to be able to enjoy the benefit of exercising one's intellectual capacity in planning out a strategy to salvage an entire empire. Graphics are apparently not an issue as well, according to several players and critics.

TouchArcade says, "This is one of the few iOS titles that really does not skimp on any of the features that make RTS games exciting. When you add in the beautiful visuals and multiplayer, it's a no brainer that anyone with even a remote interest in strategy games needs to pick up."
