Dining at the famous Mui Kee Cookfood Stall with my Hong Kong Friends

My Hong Kong friends brought us to Mui Kee Cookfood Stall 妹記大排擋 which is located at Kimberly Street. It really felt like 大排擋.

Eating in Hong Kong can be overwhelming. Food trends are ever-morphing and the choice of things to eat is staggering, such that at any time, a "Hong Kong meal" can mean many different things.
But just like the most complex building structures in the world, Hong Kong cuisine can also be broken down to its bricks and mortar.

Here's a funny conversation between the order taker and Darryl (in cantonese + mandarin) :

Darryl: May we order please?
Him: What would you like to order?
Darryl: I want this (while pointing to the dish name).
Him: No no that one not very nice (and shake his head at the same time)
Darryl: then this leh?
Him: ok this one nice.
Darryl: this leh?
Him: this one not delicious also. You know, some dishes here are nice some dishes not nice one. (while he looks around the place, afraid other people overhear him)
Darryl: then you tell me what's nice then I order lah..
Him: some special dishes are not on the menu one.. must look at the black board in front. For example, this egg white mixed crab meat very good one!
Darryl: OK OK!

Then we asked Tim to order for us since he's more familiar with the food in Hong Kong.

With Van!

My fav boy, Tim.

Me and Darryl!

  • Food's not that bad. I'll give them 3.5 / 5. But it's abit stuffy and noisy.
