Food Review: Ayam Penyet RIA

Ayam Penyet Ria is an authentic Indonesian restaurant, well known for its Ayam Penyet. Most of marinades and spices are imported directly from Indonesia. All entrees are served with Indonesian favourites such as deep fried beancurd, soybean cake, an assortment of vegetables, and topped with balacan-chilli relish.

One of the drinks you should order at Ayam Penyet RIA is their hot favorite Avocado drink! The right amount of sweetness that will linger on your tastebud for the longest time!

And of course, their Happy Soda (Soda Gembira) is also one of the hot favs for customers!

Gurame Penyet + Nasi (Gurame Fish).

I am not a fish lover but I have to admit the Gurame Penyet was really heavenly. You guys really got to try the Gurame Penyet. I promise you won't regret it.

Literally “smashed chicken”, ayam penyet is a relatively new culinary phenomenon in Singapore. This Indonesian dish is said to originate from Surabaya.
Made using small, kampong (free-range) chicken, the meat is first marinated with various herbs and spices. Then, it is smashed with a hammer - presumably to loosen and tenderise the meat - before deep-frying.

Ayam Penyet (smashed fried chicken) is an Indonesian dish consisting of fried chicken that is then smashed to make it softer, sambal, cucumbers, fried tofu and tempeh.

It is also known for its spicy sambal, which is made with a mixture of chilli, anchovies, tomatoes, onions, garlics, belacan, assam and lime juice. Like its namesake, the mixture is then smashed into a paste to be eaten with the dish.

Ayam Penyet RIA definitely has the most unbratable ayam penyet EVER! LOVE!

Empal Penyet + Nasi. It is smashed beef steak served with rice. The smashed beefs were tender and tasty.

Bawal penyet + Rice.

Crispylicious!!! and it's a good pair up with the belacan.

Sop buntut (oxtail soup) is very popular in Indonesia so when I get to try this at Ayam Penyet RIA, I was delighted as hell. It is made of slices of fried or barbecued oxtail, served in vegetable soup with rich but clear beef broth. It contains boiled potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, leek, celery, and fried shallots.

Ayam Bakar (Grilled Chicken + Rice)

The Ayam Bakar is succulent, and it's also very sweet-tasting!

With Ernest, Darryl and the boss of Ayam Penyet, Armando!

Soft Shell Crab.

I love the soft shell crab. So crunchy! This is one of my favorites at Ayam Penyet RIA.

If you visit Ayam Penyet RIA, I suggest you to order Soda Gembira, Avocado or Chendol!
