Food Review: Bari-Uma Ramen @ Tanglin Shopping Center

Bari-Uma's boss invited me to his outlet at Tanglin Shopping Center. My first visit to Bari-Uma was at United Square.

And now I am back for more food tasting session!

I want to thank Valentine, Ann and Darryl for giving me their time to join me for this food tasting at Bari-Uma! I want to thank Mr. Junji for having lots of confidence in me!

The shop is so prominent, you won't be able to miss it!

And of course, the staffs delivered exactly what was written here!

Sake is traditionally served warmed. This was related to the fact that sake was, until about  30 or 40 years ago, much, much rougher, fuller, sweeter and woodier than it is now. Warming suited it much better back then.

Ramen Bari-Uma’s signature ramen is the Ajitama-Uma Ramen, which comprises ramen served in Tonkotsu broth (a milky white, collagen-filled  broth made from a stock of pork bones that had been simmered for many hours). The ramen is topped with a thick-cut slice of Chashu (that had seared before serving and with a dot of miso), Ajitama (stewed egg), Menma (bamboo shoots) and Negi (chopped Japanese spring onion). The strands of ramen had a bite, done just the way I like it and the broth was rich and silky on the palate. The Chashu was tender and melted in your mouth.

(Above) Shoyu: Pork flavored shoyu, light soup, thick-cut flamed half chashu.

The Shoyu ramen was delicious but I will still prefer Ajitama-Uma Ramen.

Nori-Uma: Pork flavored shoyu soup, thick cut flamed chashu + dry seaweed. Really great presentation! And there was a great balance between the sweaweed and the chashu and the soup!

If the Chashu in the ramen rocked your world, the Aburi-Chashu will blow your socks off! The smoky, flame-grilled slices of Chashu completely melted on the tongue, this was even more tender than the Chashu in the ramen.

I love, LOVE, LOVE Salmon alot! So to have to eat this Aburi-Salmon which was juicy and tender was an absolute delight to me.

The skewers are not pre-cooked & kept aside for reheating so you’d need to allow them some time to prepare the dish. The Yakitori Combo features a stick each from the 5 different types of skewered meat.. This is worth a try if you love grilled meats.

With the fabulous people of Bari-Uma.

Located just under Kenko Reflexology & Fish Spa, Ramen Bari-Uma took over the space previously occupied by Bombay Woodlands Restaurant.
