Food Review: Toby's The Dessert Asylum

An overall dark theme permeates Toby's The Dessert Asylum, with its quirky menu, dark decor and madcap naming.

They have an excellent location, next to the huge glass wall which offers a good view, but doesn't dovetail with the overall dark theme they are supposed to portray. Service is above average at Toby's The Dessert Asylum.

One of their staffs, VJAY, entertained us with her wacky antics and her very funny but yet detailed explanations to each and every food she recommended to us.

The food is served rather quickly.

Earl Teaser: Vanilla ice-cream + earl grey tea! I prefer this to pear-a-dise but both are equally good!

The Pear-a-dise is highly recommended. It’s essentially an ice-blended drink involving fresh pears –a delightful and refreshing drink.

Their hot wings were Oh-La-La! Tangy! LOVE!

The Spicy Chicken Pizza is a 9-inch pizza topped with sliced chicken, onions, and a spicy garlic sauce base on a freshly baked thin crust pizza base. I like the little heat that the sauce has, as it builds the more you consume the pizza. It was very filling.

BBQ Baby Ribs; with a choice of potato salad, fries or garlic rice. The potato salad was homemade and boy was it delicious! The BBQ Baby Ribs were enticing!

Black or White

But, if you're thinkin' about my baby
It don't matter if you're black or white
I said if you're thinkin' of being my baby

It don't matter if you're black or white

The dessert's name reminded me of Michael Jackson's song Black or White! Apart from that, the taste was heavenly. I died and went to heaven a happy man.

All gone nuts.

Honestly, I went 'totally nuts' after trying their all gone nuts. Crunchy. Sweet. F-king delicious!

I will definitely come back for their desserts.

Ambiance and service 4 / 5.
