Uncle Leong Seafood

First founded in a neighbourhood coffeeshop amidst the friendly Ang Mo Kio estate, the ever-popular Uncle Leong Seafood has now heightened into three full-fledged restaurants at Punggol, Jurong East, and Toa Payoh. Still keeping its modesty, Uncle Leong Seafood welcomes a daily haul of customers comprising both locals and foreigners.

Uncle Leong Seafood is THE place to go for crabs. Its signature “Shimmering Sand Crab delight” has drawn a keen following since first introduced in 2002. This original Uncle Leong recipe: larger than average crab, drizzled with Uncle Leong’s signature sauce and topped with a sprinkle of oat, a combination of flavours that complement the fresh flesh perfectly. The aroma alone will leave you wanting more.

Big portion of fried rice!

The homemade ice lemon tea was HEAVENLY!

Chinese Spinach with Eggs

In general, the Chinese Spinach has that “mineral” taste. Although it is not a vegetable that I will particularly like but I will still eat it because of its high nutritious value such as protein and Vitamin C. I do enjoy this dish because the Spinach has been cooked to the right texture-Not too raw or overcook.

The Kang Kong was my favorite and it was recommended by the people there.

The appearance of a generous amount of eggs in the chilli gravy is always comforting when it comes to chilli crabs. Another excellent condiment to go with plain white rice!

Salted Egg Crab (咸蛋螃蟹)

Having heard this so many times, i am embarrassed that before this visit to Uncle Leong, the glutton in me had never tried this before!

Salted egg is one type of egg i don't crave for as it gives the impression that only old people eat them and they are all disgusting salty. Therefore, i was caught with utter surprise when i took the crab claw and gave it a gentle lick.

Impressive! A savoury lick filled with great seafood flavour that grew stronger as it worked its way down the thousands of taste buds on my tongue.

Mini Wok Beancurd 锅仔豆腐 $15
This Mini Wok Beancurd tastes the best when it is being served sizzling hot. Do remember to stir this Dish just before eating. Please note that it is a slight spicy dish but I do find it quite appetizing. The Beancurds are quite soft and tender and the sauce will go well with a bowl of rice.

One of the freshest and tastiest crabs I’ve eaten in the longest time. But one thing I’m uncomfortable about dining here is that there are no prices stated on the menu at all, so you gotta cross your fingers while placing orders and pray that the bill won’t make you fall off your chair.
