One of Those Days; Batam Trip

Batam Island is one of the main islands in the Riau Archipelago of Indonesia. Batam is most famous for its beautiful sea beaches as well as for its sea food. Batam Islands are so near to Singapore, that Singaporean's often come to Batam Island to spend their weekend and this is exactly how this place became extremely popular.

Batam center is a planned city made specially to attract tourists of different cultures. There is a wonderful Buddhist temple situated in the middle of the center as well.

People from around the globe enjoy the very many activities that take place in Batam. They enjoy the Cable Skiing, Go-Karting, Para-Sailing, Fishing, Jet Skis, Horse Riding, Ultra Light Air Craft, Joy Flight, etc. Diving and Golf is a favorite over here. The Holiday Inn Batam has excellent watersport facilities.

It was a last minute, impromptu staycation. Darryl was causally commenting about how badly he wanted to go on a short getaway trip amid our very hectic work life. We booked a one night stay at Swiss-Belhotel Habour Bay.

-Very new hotel

-Clean and does not reek of cigarette smoke
-Impressive lobby with high ceilings, nice chandelier and interiors
-Spacious corridor
-Hassle free check in/out
-Polite staff
-Very stylish hotel and bath room interior
-Breakfast buffet were tasty with a wide variety and staff were helpful
-Near to super mart, spa, cheap seafood restaurant

This hotel an excellent value for money. Very courteous and friendly staff who would bend over backwards to assist you. Brilliant location being next to Ferry Port and 10 mins away from main shopping mall, Nagoya Hills. Excellent massage place next to hotel.

Guess what... BFC. We thought BFC was related to KFC. But, no. IT was nothing similar to KFC. They sell mee goreng, nasi goreng, rice with eggs etc.

The drinks were to die for. Sweet and tasty. I will definitely come back to BFC for the drinks.

The food were a tad too salty but they were definitely better than Singapore's nasi goreng or mee goreng.

The trolleys there are for minions. SO small. Wacky.

It was definitely two days well-spent stay in Harbour Bay and Swiss-Belhotel.
