To Sun Moon Lake From Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village

From Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, we took the cable car to Sun Moon Lake!

Sun Moon Lake  is the largest body of water in Taiwan as well as a tourist attraction. It's almost the most famous attraction in Taiwan. Situated in Yuchi, Nantou, the area around the Sun Moon Lake is home to the Thao tribe, one of aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake surrounds a tiny island called Lalu. The east side of the lake resembles a sun while the west side resembles a moon, hence the name. The sunrise and sunset view attracts everyone.

Divided by Lalu Island, Sun Moon Lake got its name from the unique terrains that look a like the sun on one side and crescent moon on the other. The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area is praised for it's five major recreational systems including the lake and aside from offering key tourist themes like high mountains and lake, indigenous culture or nature ecology. The lake is also famous for the source of hydroelectric power.

The Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area attracts more than six million visits each year. No wonder Sun Moon Lake is crowned as one of the eight wonders of Taiwan!
