A Walk Along The Streets of Danshui Old Street

Undoubtedly, Danshui Old Street (淡水老街) will be on the must-visit list on your Danshui trip. Why? A wide variety of local delicacies, numerous craft and souvenir shops, talented buskers, and the reflection of the gorgeous sunset are just some of the reasons why a stroll along this boardwalk of the Danshui River has become such a celebrated highlight of Taipei.

Just a few minutes walk from Danshui MRT Station, Danshui Old Street is easily accessible and impossible to miss. You’ll surely find something worth tasting among the diverse snacks available here. An ice cream cone longer than your face will amaze adults and children alike.

The tiny “Iron Eggs” with their rich, chewy flavor will be hard to give up once you start. Enjoying a cup of sour plum juice with the gentle riverside breeze is a great way to cool off on a summer afternoon. Or a bowl of fish ball soup with a famous 阿給 “ā gěi” (fried tofu filled with glass noodles) will surely be a memorable local experience.

Danshui Old Street is not only a place where you can satisfy your taste buds, but also a charming destination to escape from the busy life of Taipei City. Hop on a rental bicycle and explore the mangrove ecology on the riverside trail. Take a cruise from Danshui to Bali across the river and take in the beautiful scenery of Guanyin Mountain. Or bring a book and kick back at a café on the riverside for an idyllic respite.

Why not just come and see it for yourself? After a visit, we’re certain you’ll find plenty of reasons to tell others just how wonderful Danshui Old Street is.

One of the very few games I played when I was a teenager.

After that, we visited the Hello Kitty Bakery Shop.
