Oshin (Singapore Movie Premiere)

Finally, I got a chance to meet Andy Goh and his friends. Thank you #AndyGoh for inviting Darryl and I to Oshin (Singapore Movie Premiere)

Oshin (ja:おしん) is a Japanese serialized morning television drama, which aired on broadcaster NHK from April 4, 1983 to March 31, 1984. The series follows the life of Shin Tanokura (田倉 しん) during the Meiji period up to the early 1980s. Shin was called "Oshin", which is an archaic Japanese cognomen. But now it is being made into a movie.

The 2013 remake of OSHIN cast the 9 years old, Kokone Hamada from Miyazaki prefecture as the title character. She is selected from an audition of 2,471 child actresses. Big names like Aya Ueto, SMAP’s Goro Inagaki and Pinko Izumi are present and greatly contributes to the movie’s successful remake.

Oshin tells the story of a girl born into a very poor rural family in Japan, who through hard work and perseverance eventually triumphs over pain and adversity to achieve fame and success.

The two impressionable characters are the matriarch of the Kaga-ya family, Madam Kuni and Kayo.
