(Media Invite)(Food Review):Sin Swee Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant

Claimed to have one of the best chicken rice in Singapore, it was indeed the best chicken rice restaurant I've ever been to.

At a very central and convenient location at Seah Street, just a stone throw away from City Hall MRT Station, it was easy to locate the place. There are also many parking lots along the side of the lot, making it easy for working individuals to do take away or have quick lunches.

Ambience : Spiffed up kopi-tiam with air conditioning option. Decent.

We got a plate of rice, xiao bai cai, roasted chicken and home made barley.

For the set, you could choose between chicken breast or the back part of the chicken. Add an additional dollar if you want the chicken drumstick. It's obviously better than some stores which sell super dry chicken.

One thing good about this place is that they give quite a lot of chicken.

I've realised that there are 4 components that make up great chicken rice.

1. The chicken - has to be flavourful, tender, not dry, even for roasted chicken

2. The rice - has to be fragrant, not too dry, not too wet, not too oily

3. The chilli - not to spicy, not too spiceless

4. The soup - must smell good, taste good, and not leave you with the naggy feeling of 'maybe it's just MSG'.
The chicken was wonderful, the rice was brilliant, the chilli was rather OK (but because the rest were so good, that brought the rating of the chilli up), but the soup, THE SOUP!!!! It was simply heavenly. I felt like the store actually put some thought into the soup, not like most other stalls that feel 'aiyah people come to eat my chicken rice, who cares about the soup', or worse, don't even provide soup.

It was so good I asked for a second bowl. And they gave it to us 1. without complaints and 2. they even added extra cang (spring onions).
