A Full Day Trip Covering The Taipei MRT BLUE LINE

If you ever planning a trip to Taipei, please book your hotel early! And always choose to stay in Ximen!

How to get to Ximending from Airport
To travel from airport to XMD, just take Freego (飞狗) bus from the airport. When you exit from the arrival gate, turn left and walk all the way, go down 1 level and you should see all the bus operator counters. Our bus ride cost NT$140/pax and we took about 1.5 hours – 2 hours to reach XMD.

Day 1.

If you're staying at Ximen, then you can explore the nearer train stations first!

Wake up at 10am and have breakfast at any of the cafes located in Ximen and then proceed to Taipei Main Station. I will suggest you to get their MRT card or the 1 day pass.

What's there to do at Taipei Main Station?

It is really a subway station, where the main lines of subway get coincide, but it also has a massive underground space, occupied by some malls and intersection to go here and there.
Talking about underground malls (yeah, malls, with s), I love visiting them. Many clothes and shoes shops with affordable price (affordable? let me say, under 1,000 NTD).
The first will be Taipei City Mall. There are Indonesian shops and restaurants there, so I visit it pretty often. The mall is marked by Y, so if you confused, just look for a Y in the map. It stretches out for *honestly I don’t know* meters, quite long *trust me, it has 28 exits on its side (Y1 through Y28). The mall is just like a long O. There are two aisles, so basically you will walk in one aisle then make a turn on another aisle and get back to your starting point.
Another one is Station Front Metro Mall (denoted as Z).
This mall is a bit similar with Taipei City Mall, but shorter in length. Many shops selling clothes and shoes, and yeah basically the same, but I like it for some shops selling cheaper stuff than Taipei City Mall.
You may take 1- 2 hours at Taipei Main Station.
After that, you can proceed to Shandao Temple. Shandao Temple 善導寺 is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Taipei, but mostly known because of the nearby Shandao Temple MRT Station.

You can see Taipei 101 from Shandao Temple!

Visit the temple, take a few photos and then proceed to Zhongxiao Fuxing station!

This place is known for all the high-class shopping malls, such as the SOGO (which is like Singapore's Takashimaya), and accompanied by restaurants and shops.

Also don't forget to visit Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe which is located neat Zhongxiao Fuxing Station.

Hello Kitty Sweets is a 5 minutes walk from Zhongxiao Fuxing Station.
Location : 台北市大安路一段90號

90 Da’An Road (across the road from 45 Zhongxiao East Road (Sec. 4) Sogo department store)

How to get there: Zhongxiao Fuxing Station Exit 3
And not too far away from Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe is Barbie's Cafe!

Address of Barbie theme restaurant:
No. 128 Zhōngxiào East Road Section 4, 2F, Dà’ān District, Taipei
地址: 台北市大安區忠孝東路四段128號2樓

Opening hours: Lunch: 11:30~14:30, Afternoon tea: 14:30~17:30, Dinner : 17:30~10:00pm, 17:30~2:00 (weekends)
Phone:
(02) 2752-8711

You will need to spend an hour for each of the theme cafes. Why an hour? You will be taking tons and tons of photos!

After that, you can proceed to TAIPEI 101 which is near the Taipei City Hall Station.

By this time, it should be around 6-7pm already.

It's time for dirt cheap shopping!

Proceed to Houshanpi station. Over there you will find the biggest wholesale garment market called WUFENPU. I suggest you to bring 2000 to 3000NT here.

How to get to WuFenPu

Take Metro to Hou Shan Pi Station, Exit 1. Walk straight along Jhongpo N. Rd. to the intersection of Jhongpo N. Rd. and Yongji Rd. Wufenpu starts on the left.

Wufenpu opens at about 2pm. Try not to go on Mondays because the shop owners will be busy with their new stocks arrival.

I can foresee you spending at least 2 - 3 hours here! After your intense shopping, do not forget to visit Raohe Night Market. It's just 7 - 10 minutes away from Wunfenpu.

RaoHe Night Market饒河街觀光夜市

How to get to Raohe Night Market from Wufenpu
From Wufenpu, walk to Songshan Railway Station (not metro) and look out for signs pointing to Raohe Night Market. If you are lost in Wufenpu because it’s so huge, just ask around for directions, Taiwanese are very friendly!

Raohe Night Market is mainly about food. It’s considered a small market as it takes up only one long street.

By the time you finish eating at Raohe Night Market, it will be 11pm plus already. I guess its time for you to head back, shower and sleep!

From Raohe Night Market, you can take the train from Songshan station all the way to Ximen station!
