There are some top picks from the table that you might not be getting enough of and hence are at a loss of some valuable nutrition. With all the hype about eating healthy and getting sufficient exercise and sleep, your diet shouldn’t be compromised. In fact, it should be the first thing to look at whether you’re on a fat-burn programme or just trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Let’s take a peek at 6 foods you’re missing out on.

1)   Beans and Lentils - rich in protein, fiber, complex carbs, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. Toss these babies into soups, stews, salads, grain medleys, or greens, or create a veggie dip, like hummus made from chickpeas, by pureeing beans and adding your favorite seasoning.



2)   Watermelons - some people avoid it because they think it's high in sugar. On the contrary, it’s sweet, juicy, low in calories, and chock full of vitamins C and A, potassium, and lycopene. Because it is so high in water, it helps meet fluid needs.

4)   Red Cabbage - a great source of fiber; vitamins A, D, and K; folate; and lots of trace minerals with only 22 calories in one cup chopped. Rich in antioxidants, try adding this to your salads for a colour boost too!

5)   Canned Tomatoes - a diet rich in tomatoes may help prevent prostate cancer and that lycopene, a strong antioxidant, may also help prevent other types of cancer. It’s good for your skin, too!
6)   Greek Yoghurt - excellent sources of calcium, potassium, protein, zinc, and vitamins B6 and B12. Also contains probiotic cultures and is lower in lactose and has twice the protein content of regular yogurts. Good for your digestive system and for building lean muscle, now why don’t you want that?!
