Chapter 1 - The Start (Part 1)

He laid on his bed, his eyes wide open. He has been staring at the ceiling for a couple of minutes. He didn't even blink his eyes.

He always kept himself busy. He didn't like it when he has nothing to do. It makes him nervous. It makes him think that he is not being productive, and that messes with his head. Add the endless war he has with the outside world between the overall rejection he get way too often, the anger it causes him and having a baggage that he can't really share with anyone because nobody seems to understand him.

The result was obvious. Constantly tired he was. But when he manages to sleep, dreams take over and he doesn't get any rest. If not the dreams, then his constant over-thinking keeps him awake.

Right now his head is clouded, his body just doesn't go along with him anymore. He tries to sleep but he can't.

This isn't in anyway a strange state for himself to be but at this point it has become something else. The minute he walks out the house, all he wants to do is crawl back to his bed. At first his thinking was that he wanted to sleep for hours, maybe never wake up but now it's not even that.
He just want to be in his bed and DO NOTHING for a change.

It was seven in the morning and it was time for him to go to school.

Newell Ritz was his name. A boy filled with promises. A boy who has a big dream when he grows up. He wants to be a journalist. He wants to be the best journalist ever.

He grew up with his Aunt. His parents died in a car accident when he was four years old. He knew he misses his parents a lot. He wished they were still alive. He wants to feel them all over again. He wants to know what's love.

He was very early for school and he still has an assignment to do. He went to his school cafeteria and ordered a tuna sandwich and a glass of milo before getting a seat.

It was his fourth day of the second semester of school. Time seems to be passing by so slowly for him. All he wants now is to graduate and get a proper job.

As he was sitting in the cafeteria, he realized that this assignment wasn’t easy to write. He began to observe many people and he noticed that it could be very interesting to actually sit and observe someone for a long period of time. He decided to sit alone and actually pick someone who probably would have a lot to describe about.

He chose this elderly man whom he have seen since he started the university. He thinks he must be about 80 years old and he is enrolled in many classes. Coincidently, he was sipping his coffee and eating his crackers when he began to observe the elderly man.

The first thing that came to his mind is how admirable it is to see someone that age enrolled in the university. It makes him really stop and realize that he has a great privileged to be able to come to school everyday. He wonders why the elderly man is in school now and he wonders what the elderly man must be thinking. The elderly man seemed very puzzled for a moment when he began to look for his car keys.

Newell noticed he had dropped them on the floor and he helped him pick it up. He had this enormous smile as Newell looked at him and picked up the keys for him. He repeatedly said, “thank you dear.” As Newell continued observing him, his mind began to drift and assume all these possibilities in which the elderly man might be in school now. Some assumptions Newell made is that he is retired, maybe not married and wants some entertainment in his life.

He looks like a prestigious man. It was great to actually sit and observe someone, you can get a lot of it without actually knowing it.
