Katy Perry is just the most recent in a long line of pop stars to feature in her own feature length documentary, but unlike many others, Katy Perry: Part of Me is bucking the trend by garnering huge critical acclaim.
Her fans were always going to lap up the sugary sweet stage displays not to mention Perry's adorable and inventive costumes, but nobody expected most reviewers to follow suit.
Much of the praise centres around Perry's innate likeability and zest for life, but her decision to allow the breakdown of her marriage to British comedian, Russell Brand, to feature in the film has also been seen as a positive and open move.
