Pride; Is it More Important Than Anything Else?

Pride is a 'defence mechanism' for feelings of rejection. Pride and arrogance are feelings we allow ourselves to fall into because of the delusion that somehow others will completely satisfy our need to be accepted and loved.

Pride will always say, "Are you rejecting me? Well, I'll show you!!" And on and on we try to get other people's attention to prove a point, or try to be right and make ourselves look better than our neighbour.

I guess many of us hate to lose or even admit that we could be wrong. Instead of accepting that we are not as great as what we would like to believe, we keep on putting on a false front.

Perhaps, it has to do with the Asian concept of "losing face."

Seriously, I don't like to lose face.

When I see someone doing better than me, I will cringe. I will tell myself, "NO THIS CANNOT HAPPEN". and then starts to play my cards well.

I don't want to lose.

I have to win.

Pride.

What is Pride?
