Yakitori, literally “grilled chicken”, is a Japanese Style Skewered Chicken. Today Yakitori is made of several bite-sized pieces of chicken meat and giblets, threaded on a bamboo skewer and grilled. The word “Yakitori” was first seen in a cookbook written in 1643, using other kinds of birds such as duck, quail or pheasant.
Yakitori became very popular around 1955, when broiler chickens became a common ingredient for the Japanese. Yakitori was often served by street vendors and at Izakaya (Japanese Style Tapas Bar) as a casual food.
There's plenty of restaurants and shops that serve yakitori but WHICH of them actually serve the better tasting ones?
I am a fan of yakitori for the longest time and I have been trying yakitori from many restaurants and shops but nothing's compared to the ones at Yakitori @ Dickson
Summary: Fresh ingredient and food . Must try the pork belly and chicken ! Nothing's below par here.
They serve different types of Yakitori in an old coffee shop. The price range is in between $1.80 to $4.10 per stick. Some of the recommended items include Cheese Balls, Bacon with Squid Eggs and Smoked Duck Breast. This is a convenient choice for supper as they operate till 2 am.
I can honestly tell you, you will not GET THESE MOUTH-SAVOURING Yakitori ANYWHERE ELSE at such CHEAP pricing.
